Granite Countertops in Sun City, AZ
When it is time to change your countertops out, granite is a very popular option. Granite is a natural stone that is cut directly from a mountain in block about the size of a mini van. The block is then sliced like a loaf of bread to create multiple slabs of granite that are about 10' x 6' by either 2CM or 3CM thicknesses. This slab is then laid down and put through a series of sanders that have bits of diamonds in them. Starting with a 50 grit and working up to a 3000 grit. Once the slab is sanded (polished) it will have a glossy sheen to it. There is no coating on this slab, just a smooth polishing. Granite does need to be sealed after it is installed to clog the pores of the granite because natural stones are absorbent. Granite cannot be scratched unless it is something harder than the granite itself, usually a diamond or another piece of stone.
